INFO:
For those who think themselves in the know about the very trendy Danish noise scene, Wäldchengarten shouldn't need any introduction. For those who aren't or don't, it's a band of brothers doing a lethal cocktail of heroic ambient, moody drones and devastating noise with moderate succes on the international stage, and status as spoiled media darlings in the Danish press. These days that's not a bad thing...
Black Rabbit is the first work to come from Wäldchengarten since the construction of their new studio on a farm somewhere in rural Jutland, and the more open surroundings seem to have influenced the changes in their sound - apparent on this 4th 8K Mob release. While previously working with more traditional noise production, using instruments and other objects as sound sources fed through a long line of effects, here they place the timbre of electric guitars as both occasional backbone and texture in a long onslaught, that haunts a strange territory not too far from doom metal. Luckily this is done without loosing the grasp of neither composition and changing dynamics nor sensitivity to details and subtle moods. This is not the worst release so far on this label.
REVIEWS:
"Der Wechsel zwischen Noise-Attacken und eher friedlichen Ambient-Feldern, zwischen Soundkunst und Terror, fordert einiges ab. Wer sich darauf einstellt und eher eine wahnsinnige Achterbahnfahrt durch verschiedene, dunkle Emotionen erwartet als 'Songs', wird an den dänischen Basteleien Spaß haben, die mit ihrer 'Noisigkeit' aber auch Puristen zufrieden stellen dürften. Gut!"

"This release marks the usual high standard of dark ambient soundscapes that we know this band for. A fine dark half hour."

"There's death, hate and paranoia on show. Maybe even an apocalypse. But that doesn't mean Wäldchengarten has devolved into making harsh noise. Instead they draw upon the subtle game of noise, silence, background and foreground, which back then made their debutalbum ...In Preparation of Machines to Fall into such a deep listening experience. Just on a more abstract and gloomy stage.

"Highly recommended!" 4/6
